This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use, disclosure, and sharing of your personal information or personal data when you use the SchooPed Platform. This Privacy Policy applies to activities by schooped.com and its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively “SchooPed,” “we” or “us”). Capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning given to them in our Terms of Use.
We collect information about you to provide our services. In order for us to best provide our services to you (and to help make it feasible for us to do so), it is essential that we are able to collect and use the information as described in this Policy. This means that the data collection is largely necessary for fulfilling the relationship we have with you, and where that is not the case, we have a legitimate interest in collecting the information described below.
To create an account you need to provide data including your name, email address, and a password.
We collect the content, communications and other information you provide when you use our services, including when you sign up for an account, create or share content and message or communicate with others. You don’t have to provide additional information on your profile; however, profile information helps you to get more from our services, including helping member school institutions find you. Please do not post or add personal data to your profile that you would not want to be publicly available. You don’t have to provide or upload personal data; though if you don’t, it may limit your ability to grow and engage over our services.
We collect information about the device you use to access the Platform, including type of device, operating system, and unique device identifiers, and IP address. Whether we collect some or all of this information often depends on what type of device you’re using and its settings. For example, different types of information are available depending on whether you’re using a Mac or a PC. We collect the device type and any other information you choose to provide, like your geographical location, or email address.
Log file information is automatically reported by your browser application each time you access a website on our Platform. For example, when you access SchooPed website, our servers automatically record certain information that your web browser sends when you visit any website. These server logs include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, number of clicks, and pages viewed.
Cookies, locally shared objects (sometimes called "flash cookies"), mobile identifiers and similar technologies ("Cookies") are used by SchooPed. We use Cookies to remember users’ settings as well as for authentication and analytics. You can control the use of Cookies at the individual browser level, but if you choose to disable Cookies, it may limit your use of certain features or functions on our website or service. For more information on Cookies, how we use them and how you can control them, please see the section entitled Cookie Policy.
To create personalized services that are unique and relevant to you, we use your interests and activities based on the data that we collect and learn from you and others, how you use and interact with our Platform. We also use location-related information – IP addresses, school institutions you're near to provide, personalize and improve our services, for you and others.
We use the information that we have to verify accounts and activity, combat harmful conduct, detect and prevent spam and other bad experiences, maintain the integrity of our Platform, and promote safety and security on and off SchooPed. For example, we use data that we have to investigate suspicious activity or breaches of our user agreement or Policies, or to detect when someone needs help.
We will contact you through email, push notifications and other ways through our Services. We will send you messages about the availability of our services, security, or other service-related issues. We also send messages about how to use the services, network updates, reminders, job suggestions and promotional messages from us. You may change your communication preferences at any time. Please be aware that you cannot opt-out of receiving service messages from us, including security and legal notices.
We use data, including public feedback, to conduct research for the further development of our services in order to provide you and others with a better, more intuitive and personalized experience, drive growth and engagement on our services, and help connect teachers to the best teaching opportunities and to economic opportunity.
When you share content using SchooPed, its automatically set to public. For example, when you post a job on SchooPed, anyone registered as an educator can see it. When you use Messages to communicate with the member school institutions, those school institutions can see the content you send.
We provide aggregated statistics and insights that help school institutions and educators understand how members are engaging with their jobs, profiles, and other content on and off the SchooPed Products. For example, educators’ profiles receive information about the number of member school institutions who viewed their profile. Similarly school institutions receive aggregate demographic and other information of educators applied to the jobs that helps them understand interactions with their posted jobs.
It is possible that we will need to disclose information about you when required by law, or other legal process or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (1) investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities or to assist government enforcement agencies; (2) enforce our agreements with you, (3) investigate and defend ourselves against any third-party claims or allegations, (4) protect the security or integrity of our Service (such as by sharing with someone facing similar threats); or (5) exercise or protect the rights and safety of SchooPed, our Members, personnel, or others. We attempt to notify Members about legal demands for their personal data when appropriate in our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency. We may dispute such demands when we believe, in our discretion, that the requests are overbroad, vague or lack proper authority, but we do not promise to challenge every demand.
We provide you with the ability to publish, edit, and delete data. We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your account is deleted – whichever comes first. This is a case-by-case determination that depends on things such as the nature of the data, why it is collected and processed, and relevant legal or operational retention needs.
When you delete your account, we delete content that you have posted, such as your photo, videos, profile information, jobs posted, and other contents, and you won't be able to recover this information later.
We implement security safeguards designed to protect your data, such as HTTPS. We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks. However, we cannot warrant the security of any information that you send us. There is no guarantee that data may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
We process data both inside and outside of India and rely on legally-provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data across borders. Country where we process data may have laws which are different, and potentially not as protective, as the laws of your own country.
We will only collect and process personal data about you where we have lawful bases. Lawful bases include consent (where you have given consent), contract (where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (e.g., to deliver the SchooPed services you have requested)) and “legitimate interests”. Where we rely on your consent to process personal data, you have the right to withdraw or decline your consent at any time and where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object. If you have any questions about the lawful bases upon which we collect and use your personal data, please Contact Us.
