This role requires a deep understanding of the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) curriculum, a commitment to active learning strategies, and the ability to prepare students for higher education pathways.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Economics and Business Studies lessons for KS4 and KS5 within a teaching load of 20 to 24 periods per week. This allocation includes the supervision of scheduled independent study / self-study sessions for IGCSE students.

  • Teach CAIE IGCSE Economics (0455), Business Studies (0450), and Enterprise (0454), as well as CAIE A-Level Economics and Business.

  • Adapt teaching methodologies to support diverse learners, integrating active learning strategies and critical thinking into daily instruction.

  • Potentially support the delivery of new vocational pathways (such as the V-Level) and mentor students undertaking an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Curriculum & Assessment

  • Collaborate with the department to design, review, and refine curriculum sequencing and schemes of work.

  • Design formative and summative assessments aligned with CAIE examination standards.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support their academic progress and target-setting.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and attainment, participating in the school's quality assurance and observation frameworks.

Pastoral & Wider School Life

  • Act as a Form Tutor, taking responsibility for the pastoral care, well-being, and academic monitoring of a designated group of students.

  • Contribute to the school’s co-curricular program and participate in secondary assemblies.

  • Engage proactively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, attending scheduled parent-teacher consultations.

  • Adhere strictly to all school policies, particularly those concerning child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A relevant undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, or a closely related field.

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching license).

  • Proven experience teaching IGCSE and A-Level Economics and Business Studies within an international school environment.

  • A strong understanding of current pedagogical research, active learning frameworks, and effective classroom management.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively support English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners in accessing complex subject terminology.
