Job overview
Teacher of EAL (Senior School)
Overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for an inspiring EAL specialist to play a foundational role in shaping the English as an Additional Language (EAL) provision at SPGS International School Bangkok, bringing the academic rigour and intellectual ambition of St Paul’s Girls’ School to our new Senior School. Suitable for an experienced practitioner with a proven track record in EAL pedagogy and language acquisition, this post offers the scope to deliver a dynamic, intellectually stimulating language support and enrichment programme across Key Stage 3 and IGCSE, building the academic fluency required for the IB Diploma Programme in the Sixth Form. The successful candidate will provide high-impact one-to-one and small-group instruction alongside collaborative, embedded in-class support across diverse subject disciplines.

Reporting to the Deputy Head Learning & Teaching, the postholder will deliver a provision that frames English not merely as a functional communication tool, but as a vital academic medium through which students express complex ideas, evaluate evidence, and engage in high-level scholarly enquiry. Working in close partnership with subject specialists across all departments, the postholder will conduct baseline screenings, design differentiated learning strategies, and track progress to ensure every multilingual learner fully accesses our ambitious curriculum. The right candidate will excel at creating an empowering, inclusive environment that builds cognitive-academic language proficiency, elevates spoken and written confidence, and prepares students for key assessment pathways, including IGCSE and IBDP.

Beyond the classroom, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the pastoral life of the school, serving as a dedicated Form Tutor within an embedded pastoral ethos. They will also contribute enthusiastically to co-curricular activities exercising their broader interests to elevate the school community. This rare opportunity will suit an educator of great intellectual energy, warmth, and dedication who is eager to help build a world-class EAL department from its foundations.
