About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Social Studies Teacher to join our secondary school academic team. The successful candidate will teach students in Grade 9-10, focusing on SDGs, Model United Nations (MUN), and World History, with opportunities to teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses. This role is ideal for an educator passionate about helping students understand the historical and social context of contemporary issues locally and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons in Social Studies, including World History, SDGs, and MUN-related topics.
- Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with Thai and US standards, ensuring differentiation for diverse learning needs.
- Foster students’ understanding of historical events, social structures, and their relevance to contemporary issues.
- Explore a range of social studies topics such as civics, economics, geography, and world history, integrating these areas to enrich students’ understanding of global and national issues.
- Teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses, including AP Psychology and AP Macroeconomics, while preparing students for the rigors of college-level academic challenges.
- Cultivate critical thinking, analytical skills, and discussion abilities through inquiry-based learning and collaborative student activities.
- Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and tailor support to meet individual learning needs.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student participation, engagement, and academic excellence.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align instructional practices, share best practices, and develop resources that enhance student learning.
- Support extracurricular activities such as MUN, debate, or social studies clubs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience.
- Teaching license from Kurusapa (temporary or permanent) preferred.
- Native English speaker.
- Strong understanding of current social studies pedagogies, global issues, local practices, and Thai society, culture, and social dynamics.
- Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
