About SISB:

SISB is a leading provider of the world-renowned Singapore curriculum, recognized globally for its excellence in Mathematics and Science, as evidenced by consistently high rankings in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). With a strong emphasis on English language proficiency, SISB fosters a holistic learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.

We cultivate trilingualism in our students, encouraging fluency in English, Thai, and Chinese, alongside a comprehensive education that nurtures well-rounded individuals.

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Laboratory Assistant to support our Science Department in delivering high-quality and safe practical science education. The ideal candidate will assist in preparing laboratory materials, managing inventory, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting teachers and students during science practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities
  1.     Laboratory Preparation & Maintenance
  • 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM | Morning Readiness - All labs must be checked and confirmed to be in good condition, fully prepared, and ready for lessons each day.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major malfunctions for repair.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., microscopes, glassware, Bunsen burners) to ensure they function properly and safely.
  • Set up and dismantle experiments, arrange apparatus before lessons and clean up afterward to maintain an organized workspace.

  • After going through the practical procedure with the relevant subject teacher, add the appropriate risk assessment forms.

  • Prepare materials, solutions, and equipment for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical lessons, ensuring everything is ready before classes begin.

  • Manage laboratory schedule.

  • 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM | End-of-Day Restoration - All labs must be restored to their original, tidy condition by the end of the day. This includes cleaning equipment, clearing workstations, and storing all materials appropriately

  •   2. Classroom & Teacher Support
  • Assist teachers during practical sessions by guiding students, answering questions, and ensuring proper use of lab tools.
  • Provide setup and cleanup support—help in the first 10 minutes (distributing materials, explaining safety precautions) and the last 10 minutes (collecting equipment, ensuring proper disposal of waste).
  • Monitor student behavior to enforce lab safety rules (e.g., wearing goggles, handling chemicals properly).

  • 3 Inventory & Scheduling

Manage lab supplies by tracking stock levels, placing orders for chemicals/equipment, and coordinating with the purchasing department.
  • Coordinate lab room bookings, especially for special projects or after-school activities.4
  • Process teacher requests by preparing lab materials in advance based on lesson plans.
  • Maintain an updated inventory system (digital or manual) to prevent shortages and ensure smooth operations.

     4  Administrative Support

  • Document usage, breakages, and replenishment needs to maintain accurate records for budgeting and reordering.
  • Assist in science-related events (e.g., Science Fairs, competitions, after-school clubs) by setting up exhibits or providing materials.

      5. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce lab safety policies (e.g., proper chemical storage, emergency procedures).
  • Handle hazardous materials safely, ensuring compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) or equivalent standards.
  • Conduct routine safety checks (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fume hoods) and report risks.
