Mill Hill International School Thailand, part of the Mill Hill Education Group, is looking for a committed and experienced Senior School ESL Teacher to join our English department as soon as possible. This is a full-time teaching post, reporting to the Head of English and the Head of Senior School.
About the role
You will deliver high-quality British education that helps multilingual learners make strong progress in English, academically, personally and socially. Your main responsibilities will be:
Preparing pupils for Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English as a Second Language
Designing and teaching a clear progression pathway for pupils working below IGCSE ESL level, with targeted intervention across KS3
Playing a key part in the Senior School EAL programme, including monitoring progress, keeping accurate records of proficiency and support needs, and reporting on readiness to move into Modern Foreign Languages lessons
Working with subject teachers to make curriculum language accessible without reducing academic challenge
Giving regular, constructive feedback to pupils, parents and guardians
Contributing to the wider life of the school, including co-curricular activities and school events
About you
Essential:
A recognised teaching qualification and a degree in English or a related subject, with UK QTS
Successful secondary English teaching experience, including demonstrable experience teaching IGCSE English as a Second Language
Strong knowledge of second-language acquisition, language assessment and effective interventions for pupils below IGCSE ESL level
The ability to use data to plan teaching and communicate progress clearly
High expectations, warmth, resilience, excellent organisation, a collaborative approach and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
Desirable:
Postgraduate study in TESOL, ESL or Applied Linguistics
Experience with both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE ESL
International school experience
Experience leading ESL provision, curriculum development or staff training
The ability to contribute to a co-curricular programme
