Role
Tree Yard International School is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly organized Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs as part of our inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with both the Monitoring & Inclusion Program and classroom teachers to deliver individualized learning and care. This role includes 1:1 support, daily student observation, and the ability to adapt curriculum delivery to meet unique student needs — emotionally, academically, and physically.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with special educational needs
Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to suit student abilities and learning styles
Support classroom teachers in delivering an inclusive, differentiated curriculum
Help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
Monitor, track, and document student progress
Prepare weekly reports for parents and the school’s inclusion team
Foster emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction skills
Provide physical support where needed (e.g., movement transitions, personal care assistance)
Attend team meetings and support reviews as required
Be a key contributor to the school’s monitoring and support program
Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding and child protection policies
Essential Requirements:
Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children with special educational needs
Strong understanding of neurodiversity, learning differences, and inclusive practices
Functional English communication skills (spoken and written)
Physically capable of supporting children with movement, mobility, or regulation needs
High level of punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
Demonstrated ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and follow through with reporting tasks
Patience, empathy, and a child-centered approach to care and education
Desirable (Preferred but not mandatory):
Formal training or certification in Special Educational Needs, Child Psychology, or Teaching Assistance
Knowledge of Montessori methods, Positive Behavior Support, or sensory integration
Experience working in an international or bilingual school environment
