
Job Title: Science Teacher (Years 7–9 – Cambridge Curriculum with STEM/STEAM Integration)

Position Summary:
The Science Teacher for Years 7–9 is responsible for delivering the Cambridge Lower Secondary Science Curriculum, with a focus on fostering curiosity, scientific thinking, and problem-solving through integrated STEM/STEAM learning. The teacher supports students in developing foundational skills in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, while connecting science learning to real-world contexts through cross-disciplinary projects and inquiry-based learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery – Cambridge Lower Secondary Science (Years 7–9)
● Plan and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics based on Cambridge Lower Secondary outcomes.
● Use inquiry-based learning methods to encourage curiosity, experimentation, and scientific reasoning.
● Introduce students to the scientific method, basic lab skills, and safe experimentation.
● Integrate cross-cutting scientific themes such as sustainability, ecosystems, human impact, and technology in society.
STEM/STEAM Integration
● Design and implement interdisciplinary projects that combine Science with Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
● Use design thinking, prototyping, and collaborative challenges to develop problem-solving and creativity.
● Incorporate coding, digital tools, or creative media to enrich science learning where possible.
● Encourage participation in science fairs, STEM clubs, maker sessions, and innovation challenges.
Assessment and Student Progress
● Assess students using formative and summative methods aligned with Cambridge criteria.
● Provide timely, constructive feedback and track individual progress using internal tracking systems.
● Encourage student reflection and goal setting through portfolios, peer assessments, and hands-on tasks.
Lab and Safety Management
● Conduct safe and age-appropriate practical sessions that reinforce theoretical concepts.
● Instruct students on proper lab techniques, safety protocols, and collaborative lab practices.
● Work with lab staff (if available) to ensure proper preparation of materials and lab environments.
Collaboration and Enrichment
● Collaborate with other teachers (e.g., Art, ICT, Design & Technology) to enhance STEAM opportunities.
● Participate in planning meetings, CPD sessions, and curriculum mapping to support continuity across subjects.
● Contribute to whole-school science and innovation events (e.g., Science Week, STEAM exhibitions).
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Science Education, or related field
● Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent)
● Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in Lower Secondary Science
● Familiarity with the Cambridge Lower Secondary Science Curriculum
● Strong command of English (native or near-native level)
Preferred:
● Experience integrating STEM or STEAM into the classroom
● Background in project-based or inquiry-based learning
● Proficiency in digital learning tools or platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, interactive simulations, coding basics)
● Experience in international or multicultural school settings
