We are seeking an experienced and passionate School Counsellor to join us in August 2026. Successful candidates will be offered a two-year renewable contract with highly competitive terms of employment and outstanding working conditions.

The Counselling Team is central to pastoral care and safeguarding across the School. Counsellors play both proactive and reactive roles within the wider pastoral structure, ensuring the wellbeing of our students. They maintain strong links with external support services in Bangkok and are active members of the Bangkok Counselling Network and the South East Asia School Counsellors Network. 

We welcome applications from professionals working in both the UK state and independent sectors, as well as from those with experience in international education.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Postgraduate Diploma or  Degree level qualification in counselling

  • Accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

  • Membership of, or willingness to join, the International School Counsellors Association (ISCA)

  • Further therapeutic training or qualification in working with children and young people, for example in Play Therapy or Art Therapy

  • Experience and/or understanding of supporting children and young people with developmental, emotional, social and educational issues across our full age range

  • An awareness of the range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds

  • An appreciation of  working with students and families for whom English is not their first language

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation pertaining to the safeguarding of children, (Keeping Children Safe in Education; Children Act 2004; and Thai Child Protection Act 2546 (2003))

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Positive communication and listening skills

  • Ability to build appropriate relationships

  • Patience, tolerance and sensitivity

  • A mature and non-judgemental outlook

  • All School counsellors are required to have regular supervision with a qualified external provider, this will be arranged by the School

  • Acceptable police checks (or equivalent) from the country of origin and from all other countries in which the applicant has worked and no question regarding suitability to work with children and appropriate references from current and previous employer, corroborated by personal phone calls made to each referee

  • Full commitment to the school, refraining from any paid work outside of school without the Head Master’s express permission

  • Appropriate references from current and previous employer, corroborated by personal phone calls made to each referee

     

Terms of Employment:

  • Contracts are initially for two years.

  • 10% of annual salary (at maximum) for an annual discretionary bonus paid mid-contract and after renewing contract.

  • Health insurance coverage for teachers and dependents is provided (10% co-pay scheme).

  • Accommodation is provided. 

  • Airfare and baggage allowance is provided from and to point of origin at the beginning and end of the contract period, including for dependents.

  • Annual flight allowances are dependent on the staff member completing two years of employment (minimum) and being approved to renew contract for a further two years. 

  • Where remission is given at offer, 100% of school fees for children of expat teachers are covered. 

  • The cost of working visas, dependents’ visas, work permits and teacher licence costs are paid for by the school.
