Join our collaborative professionals to teach physical education in NIST’s IB Primary Years Program. We seek a highly qualified educator to guide our students in active living and movement-based competence in a safe and cooperative environment. Most importantly, the successful candidate will aid students in developing a sense of well-being through activity.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Teaching Qualification or university degree preferably in physical education
- A passion for working with and understanding the developmental needs of students aged 3-11 years.
- The ability to support and strengthen a learning community of mutual respect and support
- Experience working in an IB PYP school in an international school context is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of elementary PE teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting or in a culturally diverse school.
Professional experience includes:
- Teach the critical knowledge, skills, conceptual understandings, and attributes of a physical health education.
- Develop units of inquiry, and implement lessons that deliver on NIST’s intended learning outcomes while promoting a love of a healthy lifestyle and the joy of
movement.
- Collaborate with professional colleagues in developing opportunities to improve health and movement.
- Develop NIST learning spaces and collaborate with teams on purchasing equipment and materials.
- Establish and develop meaningful learning relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and professional organizations.
- Teaching across the elementary age range as a dynamic and effective educator with a proven willingness to innovate and inspire.
- Demonstrating an ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams to plan teaching and learning.
- Creating a positive learning community of mutual respect and support.
- Differentiating learning to support a variety of learner needs.
- Using technology effectively as a teaching tool to increase student learning and engagement.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of developmentally appropriate instructional practices within an inclusive PYP school context.
- The ability to select from, employ, and reflect upon a variety of effective teaching strategies to enhance learning for students.
- Adding to the expertise of the team in a broad range of skills and activities such as aquatics, gymnastics, fundamental movement skills, dance, games, rock climbing, and health-related fitness.
- A passion to support student growth in their enjoyment, appreciation, and knowledge of movement through a variety of experiences.
- Contribute expertise to the development of conceptually driven curriculum units of study.
- A commitment to encourage and enhance student engagement, agency, curiosity, and risk-taking.
- Maintaining positive classroom interactions that are respectful and consistent, reflecting genuine warmth and care towards individuals.
-- Manage behaviour in a proactive, and preventive manner which is sensitive to individual student needs.
- Maintain effective routines to enhance the learning experience for all students.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students and families through kind, clear, and transparent communication.

- Engage in professional collaboration within the PE department and the wider school.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and maintain a positive attitude.
- A willingness and commitment to contribute fully to the life of the pupils and school beyond the school day, including active participation in the school’s extra-
curricular activities programme and sports teams.
- Use formative assessment to encourage student achievement, monitor progress, and provide feedback that is individual and positive in nature.
- A commitment to continued professional development, including participation during in-service days and model life-long learning for students.
- Complete school duties as defined by the school's leadership for the designated role.
- Perform duties in accordance with the NIST Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct and NIST Professional Code of Conduct.
