Position Summary
Class Teachers work within a supportive year group team of four teachers coordinated by a Year Team Leader. Each team works closely and plans together. All classes have either one full time or two (EY) Teaching Assistant(s) and a level of EAL support.
Class teachers are responsible for the class and the teaching of the UK Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum through an immersive pedagogy (Nursery / EY teachers) or the English National Curriculum covering English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Art and Digital Literacy, Topic themes, Learning for Life (Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2). Linked learning, an abundance of creativity and an added international dimension enrich the curriculum.
A range of subject specialist lessons are taught which further enhance the provision (Mandarin, Thai, PE, Swimming, D&T, Music, Digital Literacy, Library time).
A vibrant after school activity programme, ’You Time’ is contributed to by all class teachers. The Primary School is well resourced, thriving and successful with a range of ICT resources available to aid learning. Our students are diligent, motivated and enthusiastic. Candidate Profile: The successful candidate:
Will be a fully qualified teacher with QTS
Will be a dedicated outstanding teacher capable of inspiring students;
Will have a full working knowledge of The National Curriculum for England for Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 and/ or Development Matters guidance for the EYFS positions;
Will have the ability and aspiration to attain high standards;
Will have a track record of exceptional pastoral care and be able to prioritise the happiness and wellbeing of all students;
Will have either experience of working with English Language Learners (ELL) or a desire to broaden their experience and skills in EAL teaching and learning strategies;
Will have excellent assessment for learning skills;
Will have a flexible and creative approach to working within the school curriculum and structures;
Will have demonstrated an appreciation of the value of the extra-curricular dimension in developing the potential of students;
Will have excellent interpersonal attributes with children, colleagues, parents and other professionals;
Will have a positive approach to professional development particularly in the areas of EAL and ICT;
Will have a strong commitment and positive attitude to teamwork; have the experience and mind set to make a productive contribution to support and develop this across the school;
Will have the ability to work within and apply all school policies e.g. behaviour management, child protection, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities etc;- Will have ambition and aspiration for their own career development.
Desirable Criteria:
A minimum of 3 years teaching experience
Teaching in the UK and/or with the English National Curriculum UK EYFS Curriculum will be an advantage.
