Job overview
Primary Music Teacher (Years 1–6)
We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and inspiring Primary Music Teacher to join our growing international school community. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who can develop a love of music across Years 1–6 and play a leading role in bringing student performances to life.

The successful candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality teaching within our Cambridge-based Primary curriculum, developing students’ skills in singing, instrumental playing, listening, composing, and collaborative music-making. We are looking for a teacher who brings warmth, energy, professionalism, and a passion for helping children of different abilities and backgrounds participate with confidence.

At SBS International Chiangmai, music and performance are important parts of our holistic approach to education. The post holder will be heavily involved in preparing and leading concerts, assemblies, productions, choirs, and ensembles, working closely with colleagues to create memorable and inclusive performance opportunities. They will also contribute to the future development of our performing arts and oracy provision, which may include LAMDA communication examinations and other enrichment pathways.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with relevant Music expertise and experience teaching primary-aged children

  • Have experience with the Cambridge curriculum or an international curriculum framework

  • Be a confident musician who can lead singing and practical instrumental activities across Years 1–6

  • Have experience preparing students for performances and leading choirs, ensembles, or musical productions

  • Be organised and collaborative in planning repertoire, rehearsals, and events

  • Create inclusive learning and performance opportunities for students with different abilities, experiences, and language backgrounds

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, and colleagues

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and enthusiastic about extracurricular activities and the development of performing arts and oracy

In return, we offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative international school environment

  • Motivated and enthusiastic students

  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community

  • The opportunity to help shape a growing Music and performing arts programme and make a meaningful contribution to school life
