Bangkok Patana School seeks an enthusiastic, caring, and experienced Instructional Coach: Lead Practitioner in our vibrant and high performing Primary School.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working within a Primary School and a passion for nurturing the development of young learners. Working alongside exceptional colleagues, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and stimulating environment for our Primary students, fostering their curiosity and creativity.

The Role

This position requires you to lead the day-to-day cover requirements in our large primary school which includes the direct line management of a cover team. They are a highly experienced and valued team that can be deployed across the full range of learner phases.

In addition, you will have an operational and strategic responsibility to assist our leaders in continuous improvement of teaching approaches. This aspect of the role is varied including monitoring and evaluating teaching learning, identifying best practice, advising on how to marry curriculum and instructional goals, articulating and modelling alternative approaches, leading workshops and training, coaching at team or individual level, managing under-performance or mentoring somebody into leadership.

It is highly likely you already possess substantial leadership experience at senior level and those who have system leadership experience will have an added advantage for this post. You will be as comfortable supporting an early careers teacher as you are assisting an experienced peer evaluating their next career goals. Above all, you will be an excellent classroom practitioner and entrepreneurial in your approach.

The Instructional Coach has three primary areas of responsibility:

  • In the strategic domain, you will collaborate with the Primary Leadership Team (PLT) and middle leaders, leveraging student data analysis to inform development strategies and action plans. Additionally, you will provide expertise in instructional practices, lead Continuous Professional Learning initiatives, and support new staff onboarding.
  • In the instructional realm, you will work closely with teachers across the Primary school, assisting in instructional decision-making, modelling effective strategies, team teaching, and providing coaching feedback. You will also contribute to lesson and curriculum planning as well as celebrating student learning through events like the annual 3-way conference.
  • Operationally, you will ensure high-quality provision and seamless day-to-day operations of the Primary school by managing all staff absences, allocating necessary cover, and line managing the cover team. Additionally, this role will require the successful candidate to teach, across various classes, with a timetable of up to 50%.

Is this a good fit for you?

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of qualities that align with the dynamic nature of the role. Above all, you will love working with children, be committed to establishing positive relationships and exhibit a genuine, warm and open approach.

Working in a large international school demands a high degree of emotional intelligence. Developed collaborative and communication skills are essential to drive change in a culture of honesty and trust.

You will be data informed, innovative and with a solution-focused mindset.

You will likely have experience of influencing, leading and development across a school system.

Effective organisational and time management skills are paramount to managing the Primary school’s cover requirements. This component of the role will require the successful candidate to start their day early and be strategic in assigning cover for unplanned and planned absences.
