Physical Education is a popular and well-established subject at St Andrew and we are looking for an inspiring teacher to join the team. Students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques.
About Us:
St Andrews International School is a lively, forward-thinking school in the heart of Bangkok, with over 2400 students from Early Years to Year 13 across our dynamic campuses. We embrace diversity and innovation, offering a nurturing community for students, staff, and families where everyone is encouraged to excel. Our mission is to provide an inclusive, international education in a safe, happy, supporting, and stimulating environment where all the needs of the individual learner are met. Students are inspired to be the best they can be, enabling them to become responsible global citizens.
At St. Andrews International School Bangkok, we believe knowing each child is at the heart of effective education. Our classrooms are warm, engaging spaces where students feel supported to explore, learn, and grow. Our teachers bring this vision to life through creativity, dedication, and commitment to each child’s unique journey. Join us in creating a positive, lasting impact.
Role Overview
Physical Education is studied by all students throughout the school and follows schemes of work based on the English National Curriculum, but adapted to reflect our location in Thailand. In Years 10 and 11 we also offer IGCSE PE and in Years 12 and 13 we offer Sports, Exercise and Health Science as part of the IB Diploma Programme; and BTEC International Level 3 in Sports as part of the IB Career-related programme.
The Physical Education Department is at an exciting stage in our development as we continue to develop both our PE curriculum and the number and range of extra-curricular opportunities, training and fixtures which take place both after school and at weekends, with all members of the team actively involved.
Qualifications & Essential Experience
We are seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds that bring unique perspectives to our team. While experience across senior pathways and various sports is welcome, we love supporting enthusiastic colleagues who wish to learn and grow with us. If you have experience teaching an academic Sports Science curriculum such as (I)GCSE PE, IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) or A-Level Sports Science, we strongly encourage you to apply. We actively support our teachers' professional learning and are committed to helping you expand your curriculum pedagogy in a collaborative environment. We offer full training and mentorship for teachers eager to transition into IB teaching.
We value candidates with a genuine passion for creating inclusive learning environments that welcome students of all physical abilities and backgrounds—from supporting learners in our Embracing Differences program to inspiring high-performance student-athletes.
Above all, we look for flexible team players who enjoy working alongside colleagues across different phases, including collaborating on Primary PE delivery whenever needed.
Desirable Background & Interests
We are continuously striving to develop and expand our sports programme for our students, therefore experience in the following areas is desirable:
Previous experience teaching (I)GCSE and IB Sports Science
Netball: Coaching credentials, a playing background, or an enthusiasm for leading Netball (e.g., England Netball or equivalent).
Girls Sport Coaching: Empowering female athletic participation in school sports is highly valued.
Rugby & Touch Rugby: Experience or interest in supporting contact or non-contact rugby programs, including enthusiastic participation in weekend fixtures and tournaments.
Multi-Sport Versatility: An open, encouraging approach to coaching across secondary international school sports (such as Football, Basketball, Swimming, Athletics, or Touch Rugby).
Water Safety & Lifeguard Certification: A valid Pool Lifeguard qualification (e.g., RLSS, NPLQ) or swimming coaching credentials to support pool-based PE units and galas is desirable, or we will support candidates willing to qualify.
