
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging and high-quality Music and Drama lessons across Primary and Secondary key stages.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including Ell, SEND, and students with other learning needs.
- Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment where students feel confident to explore and express themselves.
- Employ a range of effective teaching and learning strategies to maximize student engagement and progress.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their development in Performing Arts.
- Actively contribute to the school's extra-curricular program by offering Performing Arts related activities and clubs.
- Lead school productions and performances, coordinating with the events team and other stakeholders as appropriate.
Curriculum
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum framework for Music and Drama.
- Coordinate the Performing Arts curriculum between classes and key stages to ensure comprehensive coverage and develop a scope and sequence plan, ensuring smooth transitions vertically between year groups (e.g., Year 6 to Year 7).
- Ensure the school's Performing Arts curriculum meets the requirements of Cambridge curriculum, with reference to the ENC as/if required.
- Research, evaluate, and provide curriculum materials to support teachers.
- Facilitate curriculum-related staff training sessions, for example, at the start of a new academic year.
Assessment
- Monitor learning objectives and record and manage assessment data for Music and Drama, including producing assessment reports and oversight of classes on Engage.
Supporting Staff
- Assist the Deputy Head of Primary and Deputy Head of Secondary in different areas of their role as delegated.
- Support and work in collaboration with new teaching staff regarding implementing the
- Performing Arts curriculum and assessment expectations.
- Identify staff curriculum development needs within Performing Arts and support those needs by facilitating professional development through Cambridge webinars, etc..
- Provide advice and support on teaching and learning strategies for Music and Drama, including in-house training and onboarding for new teachers.
- Be available on the first day of the start-of-year preparation weeks to support as needed.
Accreditation
- Play a key role in the school accreditation process alongside other members of the teaching team for this subject area.
Other
- Represent the school at external events (e.g., marketing events) and internal events for parents and other stakeholders, as required.
- Teach Music and Drama to both Primary and Secondary classes as required
- Cover classes as required
- Be a positive and proactive member of faculty
- Teaching a homeroom class as/if required
- Lead after-school performing arts clubs (x1 Primary; x1 Secondary)
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Music, Drama, or a related field (Essential)
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent) (Essential)
- Further training in Music and/or Drama education (Desirable)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching Music and/or Drama across Primary and/or Secondary levels
- Experience with the Cambridge curriculum (Desirable)
- Native English speaker, or equivalent fluency in English with clear pronunciation and strong communication skills, both spoken and written .
