As part of our team, we are seeking a nurturing and experienced Nursery Teacher to join our Early Years department for this maternity cover, ensuring a continuous, warm, engaging, and developmentally rich learning environment for our youngest learners.
Role Overview
The Nursery Teacher will take shared responsibility, in partnership with a job share colleague, for the personal development, learning, and progress of all pupils in their class. Using the EYFS framework, they will maintain an inspiring and supportive environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and holistic development.
The post-holder will engage in collaborative planning and delivery of a creative, interconnected curriculum, work constructively with teaching assistants, and manage an enabling classroom environment. This role demands excellent teaching practice, positive relationships with children, and strong teamwork with colleagues and parents during this cover period.
Key Responsibilities
EYFS Delivery: Plan and deliver a broad, balanced, and immersive EYFS curriculum tailored to Nursery-aged children that fosters personal, social, emotional, and academic growth.
Enabling Environments: Maintain and manage a caring, purposeful, and enabling learning environment that supports independent learning, play, and exploration.
Child-Led Approaches: Recognise and build on the interests and strengths of children through play-based and creative approaches.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with your colleagues and teaching assistant to ensure consistency and high-quality learning experiences.
Engagement: Use imaginative and engaging techniques, resources, and storytelling to bring learning to life.
Tracking Progress: Observe, assess, and record children’s progress using learning journals and formative assessment within the EYFS framework.
Communication: Provide clear, constructive feedback to parents and identify next steps in learning.
Records: Maintain accurate records of progress throughout the duration of the contract.
Parental Engagement: Engage positively with parents through meetings, workshops, and regular updates.
Wellbeing: Support the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of all pupils in your care.
Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines and the school’s behaviour policy.
Child Protection: Respond promptly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns in line with school policy
School Gatherings: Contribute to whole-school gatherings and community events where appropriate.
Professional Practice: Engage actively in school initiatives, training sessions, INSET days, and performance reviews.\
Extracurricular Support: Play a role in supporting school events, displays, and community open days during the contract period.
Environment, Health & Safety
Space Management: Manage and organise a stimulating classroom and outdoor area that supports child-led learning.
Day-to-Day Operations: Ensure pupil registration, transition planning, and general duties are carried out effectively and safely.
Compliance: Comply with all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.
Curriculum Knowledge: Strong knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS Statutory Framework, specifically for the 3–4 age bracket.
Experience: Experience teaching in Nursery or EYFS within a British or British-based curriculum setting.
Relationship Building: Proven ability to build positive, professional relationships with young children, colleagues, and families quickly.
Skills: Strong communication and organisational skills.
Excellent early years practitioner with a creative, child-centred teaching approach
Collaborative team player with a proactive, flexible, and reflective attitude.
High expectations of self and pupils, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Ability to foster curiosity, independence, and a love of learning in very young children.
Warmth, enthusiasm, stamina, and a good sense of humour.
Experience working with EAL (English as an Additional Language) learners and in international school environments.
Interest in outdoor learning, multilingual development, and creative curriculum delivery.
Basic Thai language skills or a willingness to engage with the local culture.
