MYIS International School is seeking a warm, skilled, and collaborative Kindergarten or Grade 1 PYP Teacher to join our learning community.
We are looking for an educator who understands that young children learn best through relationships, inquiry, play, exploration, and meaningful opportunities to make sense of their world. The ideal candidate will bring strong foundational teaching practice together with a commitment to student agency and joyful, purposeful learning.
Our Kindergarten and Grade 1 classrooms integrate Common Core-aligned literacy and mathematics within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Our early literacy approach includes UFLI Foundations for systematic, explicit phonics instruction, alongside rich opportunities for reading, writing, speaking, listening, and authentic application. Learning is connected through PYP Units of Inquiry and supported by intentional, developmentally appropriate instruction in foundational skills.
We are particularly interested in teachers who:
Have experience teaching Kindergarten, Grade 1, or the early primary years
Have strong experience with Common Core literacy and mathematics standards
Have experience with or an understanding of systematic, explicit phonics instruction
Can balance explicit foundational skills instruction with inquiry, play, exploration, and authentic application
Have experience with the IB PYP and concept-based, transdisciplinary learning
Create play-based and inquiry-rich learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving
Design opportunities for collaborative learning, student voice, choice, and agency
Use assessment thoughtfully to understand learners and differentiate instruction
Build classrooms grounded in strong relationships, belonging, and community
Use Positive Discipline or similar respectful, relationship-based approaches to classroom culture and behavior
Value collaboration and enjoy planning, reflecting, and learning alongside colleagues
See each child as capable, curious, and deserving of both high expectations and meaningful support
