About the role

Position Objective:

Responsible for the educational care and development of a class of children in accordance with the philosophy of the school’s curriculum program.

The four key objectives of a Key Stage 2 teacher in this role are as follows:

  • High Quality Teaching Practice in Primary environment, drawing on both English National Curriculum
  • Contribution to Learning Area and Curriculum Development
  • Building Relationships with Students, Staff and Parents
  • Contribution to the Whole School

Key Responsibilities:

Contribution to Learning Area and Curriculum Development

  • A deep understanding of teaching methods, to ensure the best standards for our pupils.
  • Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and ability to develop strategies to improve the quality of teaching and student learning.
  • Understanding and experience of children’s journey through writing and reading.
  • An understanding of the learning environment, helping to create a warm and inviting environment that supports and facilitates children’s development and interests.
  • Able to work as part of a close-knit team, sharing best practice and ideas from all members of the team, and flexibility to adapt, develop and change practice as needed in response to the needs and interests of children, the environment and curriculum requirements.

Relationships with Students, Staff and Parents

  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with students which engender positive attitudes to learning.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team in your year group, and within the wider context of the KS2/ Primary team, collaborating well with other teachers and support staff.
  • Demonstrate high levels of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students, parents and other teachers.
  • Demonstrates the school values of kindness, responsibility, honesty, courage, respect and friendship. Appropriate to responsible professional practice and the emotional, physical and social development of students

Contribution to the Whole School

  • Ability to contribute to the development and implementation of programs and policies which promote excellence in student learning in an international environment
  • Capacity to respond to emerging educational needs and priorities in an international environment

Safeguarding

  • It is the job holder’s responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom she is responsible, or with whom she comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, she must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head or indeed to the Regional CEP so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third party services.

Who we are looking for:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years working within KS2 age range, and preferably with experience of English National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking and time management
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, to demonstrate respect and values and an interest in participating in the wider school community

  • Students, Teachers, Senior Managers, Non-Academic Staff Members, Parents

Working Conditions

  • 7.30 am to 4.00 pm, 5 days per week
  • Meetings as required
  • Teachers are required to be involved in school functions, meetings, events and professional development days as necessary, both within and outside of school hours

Term of Employment
