NIST is seeking an effective, collaborative middle school science teacher to join our team. The preferred candidate will have extensive experience teaching middle school science in the IB Middle Years Programme, thorough knowledge of all subject matter, and the requisite teaching qualifications in science. The position will entail teaching two middle school classes, with an opportunity to supplement this with substitute cover as required/desired.

- Willingness to work hard and overcome challenges with positivity
- Experience with curriculum review and development

- Creativity to permit students to demonstrate their learning through multiple channels
- Use supportive practices for students with various degrees of English proficiency and learning support needs
- Willingness to support students beyond designated classes should the need arise
- Pedagogical humility to continue to develop as a teacher by staying abreast of best practice
- Conviction towards an inquiry-based and conceptually driven programme
- Effective and positive department collaborator
- Ability to impact and enthuse a range of age groups (Years 7-9)
- Data-driven and a belief in action research to determine what practices/ strategies have the greatest impact
- Pedagogical practices in line with the school’s mission, vision and values
- Utilisation of different cultural practices in line with international mindedness
- Ensuring students authentically understand the what, why, and how they learn
- Willingness to seek pre-emptive support when uncertain
- Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives
- Willingness to contribute with colleagues across the department/ divisions
- Commitment to the homeroom/ advisor role
- Holistic educational belief and an ability to connect with students within and beyond the classroom
