Job overview
G E N E R A L D E S C R I P T I O N

RIS seeks a student-centered and engaging High School Math Teacher who will lead, inspire, and promote deep learning across a range of courses, including IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations (SL/HL), integrated Math pathways, and core high school Mathematics courses. The successful candidate will be able to or be willing to learn how to design a “thinking classroom” where students are encouraged to take risks, collaborate, and apply mathematical reasoning to real-world problems. The teacher should be knowledgeable about adolescent development, cooperative learning strategies, visible thinking routines, and best practices in inquiry, planning for and implementing differentiation at both ends of classroom levels (higher and lower), and be comfortable with standards-referenced assessments. Beyond academics, the teacher will integrate social-emotional learning and positive behavior supports to cultivate a sense of belonging and respect for diverse perspectives. The teacher will also contribute to collaborative curriculum design and backward planning with colleagues, ensuring learning experiences that meet the needs of every student while supporting the RIS vision for both academic excellence and personal growth. Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning is a plus and not a necessity.

RIS is committed to child safeguarding and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment by proactively upholding our code of conduct.
