We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated High School Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging physical education programs that promote physical fitness, health, and well-being among high school students. The PE teacher will also foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages students to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instruction and Curriculum Development:
o Design and implement lesson plans for physical education classes that align with state and national standards.
o Create a curriculum that covers a range of physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, and recreational activities.
o Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying abilities and interests.
2. Classroom Management:
o Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
o Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures.
o Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play among students.
3. Student Assessment and Evaluation:
o Assess and evaluate students’ physical abilities, progress, and achievements.
o Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding performance and areas for improvement.
o Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
4. Extracurricular Involvement:
o Supervise and support student participation in extracurricular sports and physical activities.
o Organize and coordinate school-wide events such as sports days, fitness challenges, and tournaments.
o Serve as a coach or advisor for school sports teams as needed.
5. Professional Development:
o Stay current with developments in physical education, sports science, and fitness trends.
o Attend professional development workshops and training sessions.
o Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the physical education program.
6. Health and Safety:
o Ensure that all physical education activities are conducted safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations.
o Monitor and address any health-related issues or injuries that arise during PE classes.
o Maintain and ensure the proper use of physical education equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field.
• Experience teaching physical education at the high school level grades 9-12 preferred.
• Strong knowledge of sports, fitness, and health education.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Working Conditions:
• This position requires physical activity, including standing, demonstrating exercises, and participating in physical activities with students.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions for outdoor activities.
