Meritton British International School (MBIS) in Chiang Mai is looking for an exceptional educational leader to provide academic leadership and ensure a high quality of teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be committed to Values-based Education. He or she will have excellent strategic planning and management skills and a proven track record of improving academic achievement. Of prime importance is the ability to engage and inspire students, teachers and the wider school community.

He or she will have significant senior leadership experience, deep knowledge of the Cambridge international curriculum and will have worked in a senior leadership position in an international school setting, embracing and promoting British values, for at least 5 years.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Creating a vision of academic success that is accessible to all students:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve academic achievement and ensure that all students have access to high-quality education
  • Foster a learning environment that is inclusive, culturally responsive, and respectful of diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and families to create a shared vision of academic success that meets the needs of the school community

2. Maintaining a high quality of learning and teaching:

  • Ensure that teaching and learning are of the highest quality by implementing data-based best practices, monitoring student progress, and providing ongoing feedback and support to teachers.
  • Implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate student progress, identify areas for improvement, and develop targeted interventions to support student learning
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by analysing data. reviewing practices, and implementing evidence-based solutions

3. Leading the academic team through succession planning and distributed leadership:

  • Develop and implement a plan for succession planning to ensure continuity of leadership and effective management of the school
  • Promote distributed leadership by delegating responsibility and authority to staff, empowering them to make decisions and take ownership of their work
  • Plan and provide targeted ongoing professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Roll out the IGCSE A Level programme starting August 2026
  • Invest time and resources into staff development using internal and external resources and expertise

4. Commitment to Values-based Education and building a culture of cooperation and communication:

  • Uphold a set of core values that guide the school's mission and educational philosophy
  • Foster a culture of cooperation and communication by modelling positive behaviours, encouraging open dialogue, and promoting collaboration among staff
  • Ensure that all school policies and practices align with the school's values and promote a safe and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in an international school
  • Experience with managing budgets and resources effectively
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Familiarity with best practices in teaching and learning, as well as curriculum development and assessment
  • Skilled in the use of data and technology to enhance teaching, learning, and communication
