School Context
Regent’s International School, Bangkok is a well-established international school for day and boarding students. The school delivers a locally adapted English curriculum to students, including the IGCSE qualifications at the end of Year 11. At sixth form, the school offers the IB Diploma Programme and is being authorised to offer the IB Career-Related Pathway.

Students at Regent’s come from Thailand and across the region. The school is a privately owned school and all families (except those on scholarships) pay fees for the school’s services.

The school is a member of Round Square, the Federation of British International Schools In Asia (FOBISIA), the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) and the Thailand International Schools Athletic Committee (TISAC).

Regent’s is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and ONESQA.

Position Specific Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership and Development
● Lead the design, implementation, and continuous review of a dynamic and comprehensive music curriculum across the primary or secondary school, ensuring
alignment with whole-school educational philosophies and national/international standards.
● Ensure the curriculum is developmentally and age-appropriately engaging, inclusive, and fosters creativity and self-expression through music.

Team Leadership and Instruction
● Provide high-quality instruction in music, demonstrating exemplary teaching practices and fostering a student-centered learning environment.
● Lead, mentor, and support the music teaching team, fostering a collaborative and professional departmental culture.
● Oversee the effective delivery of the music curriculum by all members of the music department.

Progress Monitoring, Assessment, and Reporting
● Implement and oversee robust assessment practices within the music department, ensuring accurate tracking of student progress and informing instructional strategies.
● Analyse departmental assessment data to identify trends, inform curriculum adjustments, and ensure high standards of musical achievement.
● Oversee reporting on student progress in music to parents and school leadership.

Collaboration and Contribution
● Collaborate strategically with the Deputy Heads and other Heads of Department to ensure curriculum continuity and alignment across all levels and subjects.
● Actively contribute to whole-school strategic planning and initiatives aimed at enhancing the performing arts program and overall educational provision. Student

Enrichment and Performance Opportunities
● Lead the development and coordination of a wide range of engaging extracurricular music activities, clubs, ensembles, and major school performances.
● Proactively identify, prepare, and facilitate opportunities for students to showcase their talents within the school, local community, and external competitions or events, raising the profile of music within the school.

Professional Growth
● Champion and facilitate professional development opportunities for the music teaching team, staying current with educational trends, pedagogical advancements,
and music technology.
● Actively engage in personal professional development, modelling best practices in music education and leadership.

Resource Management and Department Environment
● Oversee the strategic management and maintenance of all music resources and facilities, including instruments, sheet music, recording equipment, and technology, ensuring they are well-organised, effectively utilised, and meet departmental needs.
● Manage the music department budget effectively.
● Create and maintain an inspiring, safe, and highly functional learning and teaching environment for both students and staff within the music department.

Parental and Community Communication
● Establish and maintain strong, regular communication channels with parents regarding student progress, departmental activities, and performance schedules.
● Act as the primary point of contact for significant music-related inquiries from parents and the wider community.
● Promote the music department's achievements and activities internally and externally.

Qualifications and Requirements
● A degree or higher in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
● Extensive relevant experience (7+ years) in primary or secondary music education, with significant leadership experience (3+ years) in a music department or similar role, ideally within an international or multicultural school environment.
● Demonstrated success in curriculum development, assessment, and leading educational initiatives in music
● Proven ability to manage a team, develop staff, and foster a positive departmental culture.
● Strong understanding of current educational trends and best practices in music education.
● Experience with budget management and resource allocation within an educational setting.
● Current background checks and safeguarding certifications as required by school policy, with a demonstrated unwavering commitment to student safety and well-being.
