KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Physical Education & Sport will:
Provide visionary and inspirational leadership for the physical and athletic development of students across the school
Lead the development, implementation and review of an ambitious, engaging and progressive programme for Physical Education and Sport that both references and exceeds the boundaries of the English National Curriculum
Promote physical literacy, healthy eating, wellbeing, and positive participation
Develop and lead a competitive sport schedule and the management of school teams, fixtures, tournaments and major sporting events
Identify, support, extend and promote students exhibiting potential
Play an active and influential role in the arrangement of a full and engaging Co-Curricular Activity programme
Lead on the recruitment, coordination and development of the wider Physical Education team and specialist partner groups
Build a wide range of productive partnerships both across and beyond the school community
Oversee the safe use of school facilities and resources
Manage a departmental budget responsibly
Use assessment and participation data to evaluate impact and strengthen provision
Foster curiosity, rigour, engagement, enthusiasm, community and kindness among the student population
Work in accordance with school policy and in the wider interests of the school
Contribute enthusiastically and collaboratively to the development and wider operation of the school

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Head of Physical Education & Sport will:
Be a fully qualified teacher with QTS and hold a degree or equivalent professional qualification in Physical Education, Sports Science or a closely related discipline
Have a minimum of three years of experience leading a broad programme of Physical Education or Sport within a school setting
Have a good working knowledge of all phases of the English National Curriculum
Have experience of supporting the development of young people who use English as an additional language
Experience in the leadership of aquatics would be advantageous
