GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Main responsibilities of the role:
▪ To work with the Primary Leadership Team to accelerate progress for all pupils in EYFS
▪ To support, develop and coach teaching and learning across EYFS, so that the school delivers consistently excellent teaching.
▪ To lead and coordinate assessment across EYFS , maximizing pupil and parental engagement

Knowledge and Understanding of:
▪ What constitutes quality in EYFS educational provision, the characteristics of effective Early Years settings, and strategies for raising young pupils’ achievement to exceeding expected levels’
▪ How to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and good behaviour through effective management and leadership

Shaping the future:
▪ Support the Principal in establishing a vision for the future of the EYFS
▪ Play a leading role in ensuring that the quality of teaching and provision in EYFS is outstanding
▪ Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation process as directed by the Principal
▪ Lead whole school policy change in EYFS by modelling and supporting colleagues with direct proven impact
▪ Help develop a highly effective school

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY
▪ Support the life of the school beyond the classroom
▪ Undertake the planning and organization of day trips within the subject as required.
▪ Deliver extra-curricular clubs in line with the school’s expectations.
▪ Support all Key Stage events such as productions and assemblies.

LEARNING AND TEACHING
▪ Be an excellent role model, exemplifying a high standard of EYFS provision, and promoting high expectations for all members of the EYFS community, with proven impact on pupil progress
▪ Lead on development of actions plans for EYFS
▪ Lead development of EYFS/Y1 transition to ensure continued improvement of outcomes
▪ Lead development of an additional subject area across the school with proven impact
▪ Assist the Head of Primary in leading the school through strategic planning and the formulation of policy for EYFS
▪ With the Head of Primary, be responsible for implementing robust systems for monitoring and evaluating outcomes in EYFS
▪ Ensure that High Performance Learning (HPL) is embedded in the Early Years and that opportunities for HPL are provided for

PLANNING AND PREPARATION
▪ Make effective use of formative feedback and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students
▪ Monitor and record students’ learning to ensure they remain on track to achieve challenging targets
Report on progress to appropriate stakeholders - students, parents, form tutors and Head of Department

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
▪ Participate fully in the school’s Performance Management procedures and appraisal, including objective setting
▪ Continual develop through the identification and implementation of professional development targets, interacting with the SuccessFactors system and performance management process to reflect on teaching and learning practice
▪ Continual development through the identification and implementation of your own Personal Development Plan, leading to improved performance
Participate in learning walks, observations and coaching, as appropriate

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
Qualification/ Training:
▪ BEd degree or degree plus PGCE/QTS – Essential
▪ Good working knowledge of the English National Curriculum – Essential
▪ Familiarity with the International Primary Curriculum – Desirable
▪ Evidence of participation in CPD – Essential

Experience:
▪ Proven track record with at least 6 years’ teaching experience – Essential
▪ Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures – Essential
▪ Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum and the early learning goals – Essential
▪ Effective behaviour management strategies – Essential
▪ Detailed understanding of assessing the development of young learners – Essential
▪ You adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils – Essential
