Position: Head of Early Years Department (EYFS)
We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Early Years Department to lead our EYFS provision and create a joyful, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every child can explore, develop, and thrive.
This position is ideal for an Early Years leader with strong knowledge of the UK EYFS Framework, play-based learning, curriculum development, staff coaching, and effective departmental management.
Key Responsibilities
A. Department Leadership
Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Early Years Department.
Establish high expectations for teaching, learning, behaviour, safeguarding, and children’s well-being.
Lead, support, and evaluate EYFS teachers and co-teachers.
Coordinate staffing, timetables, resources, routines, events, and daily departmental operations.
Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
Work closely with the Principal and wider leadership team to support whole-school improvement.
Build positive relationships with parents and respond professionally to questions or concerns.
B. Teaching and Learning
Ensure consistently high-quality EYFS teaching through play-based, child-led, and developmentally appropriate approaches.
Model excellent classroom practice through demonstration lessons and co-teaching.
Oversee stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that encourage curiosity, creativity, independence, and exploration.
Lead the effective use of Wonder Play stations, sensory activities, imaginative play, storytelling, continuous provision, and project-based learning.
Ensure the effective integration of early literacy, Monster Phonics, White Rose Maths, and hands-on learning.
Monitor children’s progress through observations and assessments aligned with the UK EYFS Framework and Early Learning Goals.
C. Staff Development
Coach and mentor EYFS teachers and co-teachers to strengthen their professional practice.
Plan and deliver professional-development workshops on play-based pedagogy, continuous provision, classroom environments, positive behaviour management, phonics, mathematics, observation, and assessment.
Support new staff through induction, modelling, mentoring, and ongoing feedback.
Lead the implementation of Walkthrus, lesson study, peer observations, and reflective practice.
Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable departmental culture.
D. Curriculum and Assessment
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s EYFS curriculum.
Review progression maps, long-term plans, weekly lesson plans, learning objectives, and assessment systems.
Develop play-based learning stations, project themes, continuous-provision guidance, and classroom-environment standards.
Support the development of SparkBrain Box take-home learning kits.
Analyse assessment information to identify children requiring additional support or greater challenge.
Ensure reporting to parents is accurate, clear, meaningful, and completed on time.
E. Safeguarding and Pastoral Care
Promote children’s happiness, safety, well-being, inclusion, and love of learning.
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, supervision, hygiene, and school policies are consistently followed.
Support teachers in managing behaviour through positive, age-appropriate approaches.
Work collaboratively with families and relevant staff to support children with additional learning, developmental, social, or emotional needs.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
At least 5 years of successful EYFS or Early Childhood teaching experience, preferably within an international school.
Strong knowledge of the UK EYFS Framework, Development Matters, and Early Learning Goals.
Demonstrated experience in team leadership, teacher coaching, mentoring, or professional development.
Strong curriculum-planning, assessment, communication, and organisational skills.
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and children’s well-being.
Preferred
Previous experience as an EYFS Coordinator, Phase Leader, Deputy Head, or Head of Department.
Experience with Monster Phonics and White Rose Maths.
Experience in curriculum design, school improvement, or academic leadership.
Knowledge of Reggio Emilia-inspired practice, continuous provision, or inquiry-based learning.
Strengths in creative arts, imaginative-play environments, or learning-space design.

Salary starting from 65,000 THB - 75,000 THB per month, depending on qualifications, leadership experience, and demonstrated expertise
