The Founding Senior Teacher of Humanities will help to establish Humanities as a defining academic strength of the Senior School. They will enable students to understand people, places and change through secure knowledge, disciplined enquiry, critical use of evidence and thoughtful engagement with different perspectives.
Plan, implement and review an ambitious and engaging Humanities curriculum for a cohort of capable, multilingual students founded upon Key Stage 3 objectives drawn from the English National Curriculum
Develop secure knowledge and genuine curiosity across History and Geography at Key Stage 3
Teach students to question, interpret and evaluate sources, maps, data and competing explanations
Develop precise extended writing, confident discussion and evidence-based argument
Connect local, regional and global perspectives while helping students to understand Thailand and the wider world
Establish clear progression both into and through Key Stage 3, and towards IGCSE and A Level study in History and Geography
Use formative and summative assessment to support progress and inform teaching
Foster curiosity, rigour, engagement, enthusiasm, community and kindness among the student population
Work in accordance with school policy and in the wider interests of the school
Contribute enthusiastically and collaboratively to the development and wider operation of the school

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Founding Senior Teacher of Humanities will:
Hold a relevant degree and be a fully qualified secondary teacher with QTS
Have a minimum of three years' successful post-qualification teaching experience
Have a secure working knowledge of the English National Curriculum and appropriate secondary assessment pathways
Be able to demonstrate a strong track record for the teaching of History or Geography at Key Stage 3 and 4, with the ability to contribute to both subjects at Key Stage 3 - Key Stage 5 experience would be seen as an advantage
Have experience of securing strong outcomes for populations of multilingual students
