POSITION: FOUNDING SENIOR TEACHER OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Highgate International School Thailand opened to a founding community of Pre-Prep and Junior School students in August 2026. It will open a Senior School in August 2027, initially welcoming students into Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. 

Operated in partnership with Siam Motors Group and Highgate School, London, students enjoy access to a wide range of world-class facilities within a beautiful and generously appointed campus situated in Chonburi. 

THE OPPORTUNITY 
The successful candidate will enjoy the privilege and responsibility of joining the school as a founding member of staff. They will, as a result, play a critical role in the subject specific interpretation of an aspirational set of guiding statements and the fostering of a culture centred upon the considered application of high expectations. 

The Founding Senior Teacher of Computer Science will help to establish Computer Science as a defining academic strength of the Senior School. They will develop computational thinking and a rigorous understanding of the systems and data that shape the modern world within the minds of a carefully selected population of highly capable students. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Founding Senior Teacher of Computer Science will: 
  • Plan, implement and review an ambitious and engaging Computer Science curriculum for a cohort of capable, multilingual students founded upon Key Stage 3 objectives drawn from the English National Curriculum 

  • Develop computational thinking through decomposition, abstraction, logical reasoning and algorithmic problem-solving 

  • Build confident, precise programming through carefully sequenced practical work and increasingly complex projects 

  • Develop secure understanding of data representation, computer systems, networks and cybersecurity 

  • Encourage students to evaluate digital technologies critically and use them safely, ethically and responsibly 

  • Establish clear progression both into and through Key Stage 3, and towards IGCSE and A Level Computer Science 

  • Use formative and summative assessment to support progress and inform teaching 

  • Foster curiosity, rigour, engagement, enthusiasm, community and kindness among the student population  

  • Work in accordance with school policy and in the wider interests of the school 

  • Contribute enthusiastically and collaboratively to the development and wider operation of the school

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The Founding Senior Teacher of Computer Science will:  

  • Hold a relevant degree and be a fully qualified secondary teacher with QTS 

  • Have a minimum of three years' successful post-qualification teaching experience 

  • Have a secure working knowledge of the English National Curriculum and appropriate secondary assessment pathways 

  • Be able to demonstrate a strong track record for the teaching of Computer Science at Key Stage 3 and 4 - Key Stage 5 experience and experience with Robotics and the VEX platform would be seen as advantages 

  • Have experience of securing strong outcomes for populations of multilingual students
