North London Collegiate School (NLCS) International seeks a Founding Principal to support the establishment and development of NLCS Phuket. Opening in September 2028 as a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 4-18, this exciting new venture will bring NLCS’s ethos of joyful scholarship, extra-curricular breadth and outstanding pastoral care to Phuket.
The role of Founding Principal of NLCS Phuket is a unique and rewarding leadership challenge. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to develop a brand-new school, drawing on the significant educational expertise and resources of NLCS International and VLC Group.
Phuket is an exciting and rapidly evolving international education market, with significant growth potential. The Founding Principal will bring NLCS’s distinctive ethos to Thailand with the aim of creating one of the leading international schools in the region.
Purpose
The Founding Principal is the educational and organisational leader of the school and will be responsible for shaping the school’s academic, pastoral and extra-curricular offer; building a high-quality team of teaching staff; establishing and further developing the school’s culture of excellence; leading the school’s operations; actively growing the school roll and developing relationships within and outside the school community in order to do so.
It is expected that the appointed candidate will be able to spend time in Phuket and at NLCS in London during the pre-opening year.
NLCS Phuket
North London Collegiate School Phuket will open in 2028 as a co educational day and boarding school for students aged 4 to 18, located on a purpose-built campus in the heart of Phuket. The school will offer places from the Early Years through to Sixth Form, providing a seamless educational journey within a vibrant and supportive community.
Students will follow a broad and ambitious curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, leading to International GCSEs and culminating in the IB Diploma Programme in the Sixth Form. This academically rigorous pathway is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed at the world’s leading universities and beyond.

Our Family of International Schools
In 2011 NLCS opened its first international school in South Korea: NLCS Jeju. NLCS Jeju is a co-educational day and boarding school and offers the IB Diploma to all students in the Sixth Form. It has been ranked the number one IB Diploma school in South Korea, achieving outstanding results since its first cohort of graduating students in 2014. The School’s alumni continue on to excellent universities around the world, including destinations in the UK, USA and Asia, with significant numbers of students securing places at Oxbridge, Stanford and Ivy League colleges.
In September 2017, NLCS opened its second international school: NLCS Dubai. The School is a co-educational day school, following the IB Continuum. It achieved the highest average IB diploma score in Dubai for 3 consecutive years.
NLCS (Singapore) opened in August 2020, becoming NLCS’ third branch school. The School is a co-educational day school in the heart of Singapore, offering a bespoke Junior curriculum and the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.
NLCS Kobe opened in August 2025. The Junior School is a co-educational day school located on Rokko Island. The Senior School, which is due to open in August 2028, will also be co-educational but will offer boarding. It is located on Rokko Mountain overlooking the city.
