Raintree is seeking an inspiring Founding Headteacher to join our award-winning early years school for the establishment of our new Bangna Campus, opening in August 2027. 

Founded in 2017, Raintree International School provides a holistic early childhood programme for children aged 1–6. In a safe and nurturing environment, we combine the British curriculum with a Reggio Emilia informed teaching philosophy. Raintree International School seeks a passionate, dynamic and experienced Founding Headteacher to lead the establishment of our new Bangna campus.  The Headteacher will be responsible for leading and guiding the team to continue to deliver the highest quality educational programmes within a positive and nurturing environment. The successful applicant will need to be organised, an effective communicator, and able to lead and motivate the team. They will guide the team with all aspects of the school including curriculum unfolding, leading and developing the teaching team, community management, day to day operations as well as participate in making strategic decisions. The Headteacher role is a senior leadership position, with overall responsibility of the school.  The Headteacher works in close collaboration with the School’s CEO who will be responsible for the school business decisions, government relations and facility management.

Purpose of Job

  • Elevate educational standards and provide day-to-day operational leadership in partnership with the School Director, students, teaching team, parents and others, in accordance to the school’s vision
  • Recruit, manage and guide the teaching staff to deliver the highest quality educational programmes within a positive and nurturing environment 
  • Assist in leading and fostering a thriving school in all aspects including educationally, and operationally
Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Overall Responsibilities 
  • Provide inspirational leadership for the school and its day-to-day operations, promoting high standards in all areas, particularly in students’ personal and educational development
  • Guide teaching staff to ensure educational programmes are delivered in alignment with the school’s mission, vision, and strategic plan
  • Develop and maintain excellent partnership with parents and the wider community
  • Engage positively in the recruitment, development, appraisal, and retention of teaching staff
  • Coordinate the teaching team schedule, timetables and all learning documents provided to parents
  • Support and engage in marketing and admissions activities
Leading Learning and Teaching
  • Lead and guide the teaching team in implementing a progressive learning programme in alignment with the established curriculum 
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality instruction and continuous improvement in teaching practices
  • Coordinate and review the preparation of all learning documents and meetings, including but not limited to termly reports, weekly observations, work portfolios, and parent-teacher meeting notes
  • Provide content, coordinate, and review the monthly school-wide newsletter
  • Manage effective planning of learning resources for classrooms and school wide 
  • Carry out all the duties of a class teacher when necessary 
  • Arrange and coordinate with the learning support team and parents to ensure the best individual learning programme for every child
  • Review and organise student’s recommendation forms to ensure seamless school transitions
  • Guide and delegate the setup of school events 
Managing and developing staff
  • Line manage all teaching staff (supported by the Admin team for care assistants) in all aspects of their role
  • Lead staff appraisals and facilitate continuous professional development (CPD) through designing and delivering ongoing training (where appropriate), the staff induction programme, and pastoral support.
  • Conduct weekly teacher meetings and monthly school wide meeting
  • Allocate teaching team schedules and duties efficiently, and provide creative solutions for people and resource management
  • Lead and actively participate in the recruitment of teaching team members.
  • Resolve conflicts in a fair and professional manner.
School administration and operations
  • Coordinate (assisted by school admin team) curriculum timetables, duties, cover rotas and, use of room schedules 
  • Manage the teaching team and external providers on the offering of extra-curricular activities including afterschool clubs and playgroups
  • Arrange (assisted by school admin team) and provide cover for all classes as needed 
  • Work closely with school directors to develop and keep up to date school visions and policies, and ensure the policies are implemented on a daily basis
  • Provide and prepare relevant information for school accreditations and required government documents 
Community Management
  • Build strong relationships with parents and address parental concerns proactively and in a timely manner
  • Oversee the coordination and delivery of all parent meetings, internal and external workshops, and school orientation sessions as appropriate
  • Plan and organise meaningful school events that engage the community and support school marketing efforts
  • Support the admissions team in promoting the school, attending all major school events, leading school tours (as required), and assessing families suitability for our community 
  • Meet with parents as requested to discuss their child’s development and provide guidance on future school choices 
  • Maintain effective communication across the school, including emails and announcements on important matters
  • Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all staff understand their responsibilities regarding child protection and safeguarding, while handling any concerns raised with sensitivity and care

Other Responsibilities 

  • Undertake other reasonable duties as requested for the effective operation of the school
  • Participate actively in making and implementing strategic decisions to ensure the school’s continued growth and success

This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the School Director and member of staff, and will be reviewed annually during the appraisal process, and will be varied in the light of the business needs of the school.

Qualifications and desired attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Years, PGCE in Early Years or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of Early Years senior leadership experience
Experience in teaching children aged between 1-6  years
Sound knowledge and experience in working with the Reggio Emilia approach, Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and Birth to Five Matters documents
Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
Outstanding understanding of strategic decisions and management capability of key parties involved including parents and staff members
Strong leadership to manage and inspire a wide variety of people
Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to embrace change
Passion for early childhood education, and a drive to make a difference
Experience in in multi-lingual schools will be given a special consideration
