Job overview
Pastoral Care

- Lead the pastoral care strategy across the whole school (Early, Primary and Middle Years), ensuring systems are in place to support students' emotional and social well-being.

- Monitor student welfare, address concerns sensitively and effectively, and help create a positive and caring school culture.

- Provide guidance and coaching to staff on best practices in pastoral care and student support.

Safeguarding

- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently implemented.

- Be responsible for the documentation of spaces, people, events, trips, evacuation drills and interviewing of new staff.

- Monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns, including issues of abuse, neglect, bullying, or mental health challenges.

- Ensure that all staff understand and follow safeguarding protocols and attend regular training.

Student Welfare

- Support students facing personal, family, emotional, or academic challenges.

- Liaise with internal support teams and refer to external agencies as needed.

- Keep accurate and confidential records of pastoral and safeguarding concerns.

Behaviour Management

- Lead on whole-school behaviour policy implementation, promoting positive behaviour and addressing misconduct in a restorative and consistent way.

- Work with students, staff, and families to resolve conflicts and ensure students understand the consequences of their actions.

- Support teachers with managing classroom behaviour and provide coaching where needed.

- Lead school wide initiatives regarding Anti-Bullying.

Supporting Vulnerable Students

- Identify students at risk or requiring additional support and ensure effective intervention strategies are in place.

- Coordinate support plans and collaborate with relevant staff and external specialists.

- Monitor the progress and well-being of vulnerable students closely.

Parental Engagement

- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student well-being and pastoral issues.

- Organise and lead meetings to discuss concerns, progress, or interventions.

- Provide guidance and resources for parents to support their children at home.

Qualifications and Experience:

- A relevant bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

- Proven experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, or student welfare leadership role, preferably in an International or IB school context.

- Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices, laws, and child protection policies.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to lead and inspire others while maintaining a compassionate and student-centred approach.
