The successful candidate will be capable of teaching Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A Level Computer Science, supporting students in developing strong computational thinking, programming skills, and conceptual understanding. This role is well suited to a teacher who can balance theoretical rigour with practical application, and who is confident engaging students with emerging areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence within the Cambridge framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A Level syllabi.

  • Teach core areas including algorithms, data structures, programming, computer systems, networks, databases, and theory of computation.

  • Develop students’ computational thinking, problem-solving ability, and analytical reasoning.

  • Support practical programming using appropriate languages and environments relevant to Cambridge specifications.

  • Integrate robotics, automation, and introductory AI concepts where appropriate, in alignment with Cambridge learning objectives and age suitability.

  • Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments and external Cambridge examinations, including coursework and practical components where applicable.

  • Assess, track, and monitor student progress, using data to inform teaching, differentiation, and targeted support.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development, ensuring coherence and progression across year levels.

  • Support or contribute to co-curricular STEM, coding, robotics, or technology-related activities.

  • Maintain a positive, disciplined, and intellectually engaging classroom environment that encourages independent learning and responsible use of technology.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and expectations.

  • Uphold school policies, including safeguarding and responsible use of digital technologies.

          Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, PGCE, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in Secondary Computer Science (international or Cambridge experience strongly preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE, AS, and A Level Computer Science syllabi, including assessment requirements.

  • Confidence teaching programming concepts, algorithms, and computational theory.

  • Knowledge of robotics, automation, or artificial intelligence concepts appropriate to secondary education is desirable.

  • Experience or familiarity with BTEC computing-related qualifications is an advantage.

  • Strong classroom management, organisational, and communication skills.

  • A clear commitment to academic excellence, professional growth, and student success
