Chinese Language Teacher
Prasarnmit Primary International Programme (PPiP) is seeking an enthusiastic, qualified, and inspiring Chinese Language Teacher to join our Primary team in August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate language educator to teach Early Years through to Year 6 in a warm, supportive, and well-resourced international school environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing pupils’ Chinese language skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication. We are looking for a teacher who can create engaging, age-appropriate lessons that foster curiosity, enjoyment, and progression in Mandarin learning across the primary years.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language, Education, or a related field
Teaching qualification or certification (e.g. PGCE, PGCEi, teaching licence, or equivalent)
Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
Experience teaching Chinese as a foreign or additional language is highly desirable
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Chinese language lessons for pupils from EYFS to Year 6, ensuring progression in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports pupils with varying language abilities.
Adapt teaching strategies to suit different age groups, learning styles, and levels of language proficiency.
Track and assess pupil progress through observations, formative assessments, and written reports.
Integrate Chinese culture, traditions, and celebrations into the curriculum to enrich pupils’ learning experiences.
Work collaboratively with class teachers and the wider Primary team to support curriculum links and consistency.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupils’ progress and engagement.
Contribute to wider school life, including assemblies, performances, language events, and cultural celebrations.
Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, health, and safety at all times.
Skills & Attributes
Strong understanding of teaching Mandarin to young learners and primary-aged children.
Ability to deliver engaging, interactive lessons using songs, stories, games, and practical activities.
Excellent classroom management skills with a positive and supportive approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexible, patient, and enthusiastic, with the ability to motivate learners of different abilities.
Experience supporting EAL learners in an international school setting is an advantage.
Commitment to fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of language learning.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of teaching experience, preferably teaching Chinese to children.
Fluent English for professional communication.
Up-to-date DBS or police clearance to work with children.
Experience teaching in an international or bilingual school setting is beneficial.
