Our School:
Sedbergh Vietnam (SSV) is a bilingual international boarding school. We have a very close working relationship with Sedbergh School UK and aim to deliver an exciting and holistic education for both Vietnamese nationals and foreign students in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City. SSV was previously the Bilingual Canadian International School (BCIS) and part of the EQuest Education group. We share an exciting urban campus with the Canadian International School, with access to outstanding facilities for sports and performance, in addition to dedicated spaces for STEM teaching and a group commitment to exploring innovative educational methodologies, including the use of AI. Building on the excellent reputation of Sedbergh UK with 500 years of history and boarding experience, we offer an exciting approach to the delivery of the Vietnamese National Curriculum in addition to an emerging Cambridge Curriculum including IGCSE and A Level programmes. We currently have over 1400 students from Nursery to Year 13 and approximately 200 support and teaching staff making Sedbergh Vietnam a busy school with a number of exciting challenges ahead as we expand. Safeguarding and Child Welfare: Sedbergh Vietnam is fully committed to safeguarding and child welfare. Candidates must be prepared to undergo child protection screening and appropriate pre-employment checks and commit to upholding our policies and procedures with regards to safeguarding.

The role:

● Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the syllabus being taught.

● Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning.

● Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential.

● Liaise with the Deputy Head of Academic and Learning Support where a student may have special educational needs.

● Promote high standards of behaviour by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students.

● Set homework according to policy and pertinent to the student’s ability and wider workload.

● Promote high standards of organisation.

● Punctuality

● Promote high standards in the use of English as the common language and help develop English for Academic Progress

● Provide high quality, accurate, constructive and targeted information to parents at Parents' Evenings, in subject reports, incidental meetings and communications.

● Assess, record and monitor the progress of all students according to faculty guidelines in order to provide accurate information to parents in a variety of forms, as and when necessary.

● Maintain materials and resources as needed.

Requirements:

● Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification.

● Minimum three years’ teaching experience.

● Experience of teaching the Cambridge Curriculum

● Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.

● A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.

● Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.

● Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background.

● Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.

● A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.

● Acceptable police checks (or equivalent) from the country of origin and from all other countries in which the applicant has worked and no question regarding suitability to work with children.

● Appropriate references from current and previous employer, corroborated by personal phone calls.
