Job Description: Reporting to: Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
Position Overview:
The Head of Secondary School is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the educational and operational excellence of the Secondary School, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership: Lead and inspire teaching staff, embodying the school’s mission and vision, and maintaining trust among students, parents, and colleagues.
2. Operational Management: Collaborate with the Deputy Head to manage day-to-day operations, including resource deployment and strategic planning for continuous improvement.
3. Curriculum and Teaching Excellence: Drive high standards in learning and teaching, support curriculum implementation, and foster innovative teaching practices.
4. Student Wellbeing: Safeguard students and support their pastoral care, ensuring a conducive environment for learning and personal growth.
Staff Development: Build high-performing teams, facilitate professional development, and conduct staff appraisals.
5. Communication: Act as a liaison between the school and external entities, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.
6. Parental Engagement: Engage with parents, providing information and updates on student progress and school initiatives.

Professional Development and Compliance:

Stay abreast of educational trends, contribute to school policies, and ensure compliance with educational standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated leadership and management experience in an educational setting.
2. A commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Duties:
May include representing the school at events, contributing to marketing initiatives, and overseeing administrative tasks related to student reporting and resource management.

Job Requirements: Qualifications/Training:

1. Degree level or above qualification. Essential
2. Qualified teaching certificate or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Essential
3. Master’s degree or higher. Desirable
4. Completed a school leadership program. Desirable
5. Proven record of ongoing professional development. Essential

Experience:
1. Successful team participation at Deputy level. Desirable
2. Proven involvement in school improvement and standard raising. Essential
3. Familiarity with the English National Curriculum, KS3, project-based learning, IGCSE, and IB. Essential
4. Proficiency in student tracking and data analysis for achievement. Essential
5. Effective collaboration with parents. Essential
6. Experience with diverse student groups, including English as an additional language (EAL). Essential
7. Knowledge of school accreditation or inspection processes. Desirable
